How Luxurious Your Parenthood is

Being a parent often evokes a profound sense of sacrifice and transformation, particularly for women. As a parenting-graduate, I know that the experience can feel animalistic at times, with the demands of breastfeeding and the constant need to prioritize your child ahead of personal desires. However, these challenges are ideal for carving out niche time for self-growth and pursuing your dreams.

Utilizing Small Moments for Personal Desire

As we discussed yesterday, finding small pockets of time within our chaotic parenting schedule allows us easily to lay the groundwork for our personal aspirations. Regardless of whether your goals are crystal clear or merely developing, training your brain can be an incredibly beneficial process. Engaging in learning fresh skills not only keeps your mind sharp but also helps maintain a sense of individuality beyond the role of a parent.

Simple Activities to Prepare for Your Future

One approach I found invaluable was pursuing my interest in Japanese kimono dressing. I enrolled in a free class to obtain traditional skills, preparing myself for opportunities I was passionate about. To achieve this, I invested a little daily time in studying and practicing for degree, eventually passing the certificate exam. (See my daughter’s picture in red kimono, which I dressed her, on Homepage Creative Gallery). This was a small yet significant step towards embracing my identity outside of parenting.

Additionally, I tackled the TOEIC English test and was delighted to earn a respectable score, which surprised my daughter. While these endeavors don't directly correlate with my current role as a composer pianist, they contributed immensely to my passion and engagement in post-parenthood. Each one of these activities was a practical objective that provided efficient learning and positive deadlines, and ultimately, reinforced my sense of self as a human being.

Please remember, whether it's taking online credits, embracing a new skill, or pursuing interests outside of parenting, taking time for personal development can enrich your life and the lives of your children. By investing in ourselves, we become more fulfilled individuals and better role models. So, take the plunge and explore your interests; after all, your dreams matter, even in the challenging but rewarding journey of parenthood.
