The Challenge of Pursuing Art
Achieving a music goal can often feel like crossing a glacier. It demands dedication and a unique set of skills, making it arguably more challenging than conventional career paths such as becoming a doctor or a lawyer. Many aspiring creators encounter hurdles that can impede progress and leave them feeling lost in their journey.
Finding Your Unique Path
To navigate this complex landscape, it's essential to find your unique way forward. Each individual has a different story to tell, and your personal experiences can shape your custom journey profoundly. One of the most effective strategies to elevate your creative aspirations is to surrounded yourself with prominent peers who can uplift and inspire you.
The Initiator of Domino Effects
In my own journey, without a music degree, I had the fortune of meeting a remarkable friend named Masako in a keyboard class decades ago when I was just a university student. It was a small yet impactful connection that transformed my musical trajectory. Together, we posted an ad calling for band members, leading to opportunities that seemed impossible at that time. Our band not only provided a creative outlet but also set off a chain reaction of events like dominoes falling into place.
Thanks to Masako, I was introduced to various music classes, which allowed me to master the piano, understand composition, and secure jobs in the music industry. These experiences ultimately led to album deals and, eventually, an artist green card in America. The journey has taught me the invaluable lesson of how crucial connections can be in the pursuit of music goals.
In Japanese culture, there is a saying that goes, “I got a friend who came from afar.” This adage highlights the idea that friends who help us along our paths are worth their weight in gold. By upgrading your skill level where you can encounter individuals who inspire you, you can enhance your chances of achieving your creative aspirations.
So, if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, consider taking a moment to evaluate your connections. Who is “from afar”? Seek out those who uplift you, and who motivate you. Whether it’s collaborating on projects, attending classes together, or simply sharing experiences, surrounding yourself with the right people can lead to monumental changes in your life.
Remember, on your quest to achieve your creative goals, you don’t necessarily have to be sociable, super lucky, nor believe in law of attraction. Try embracing the connections you make along the way, and you'll find that achieving your dreams becomes not just possible, but also truly rewarding.
